Dr. Lewis grew up in rural Northeastern PA, where he acquired his strong family and community values. He also established his strength in leadership and communications with his involvement in 4-H at a very young age. With a developed passion for veterinary medicine in the small and large animal field, he feels the profession has much to offer regarding compassion, alongside a daily intellectual challenge. Dr. Lewis is committed to success in the field, always seeking experience from others like his veterinary family member, as well as his neighbor, mentor and now colleague.
Dr. Lewis attended Penn State University for 3 yrs as an undergraduate student majoring in Dairy and Animal Science, where he also achieved the President's Freshman Award for academic excellence. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine with his VMD degree in 2000.
As a small veterinary practice owner with 24 years of medical and surgical experience, Dr. Lewis developed a passion for the importance of client communication, client education, and team effort for success in the treatment. He sold his practice & farm to relocate closer to family in South Central PA. He moved to Carlisle, PA with his wife Melinda and 4 canine friends Maverick, Rip, Willow & Ryker. Dr. Lewis enjoys hiking, trail running, fly fishing, beekeeping, gardening & really anything else outdoors.
Although Emergency Medicine came later in his career choice, the essentials of care remain the same. Dr. Lewis’s passion to discuss concerns and help families during difficult times, remains his priority in caring for patients/clients at Mountain View Animal Emergency.
